On the morning of August 18, 2023, the incense offering ceremony to commemorate the 135th birthday of President Ton Duc Thang (August 20, 1888 - August 20, 2023) was solemnly held by the Union of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU). Attending the ceremony were Dr. Vu Anh Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Tran Trong Dao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, President of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Minh Ly, Chairwoman of the Party Committee Inspection Commission, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration; representatives of the Trade Union and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; leaders of the University’s units; lecturers; staff; and more than 200 students representing the University’s students.

At the ceremony, TDTU lecturers, staff and students together reviewed the life of revolutionary activities and great contributions of President Ton Duc Thang. They expressed their deep gratitude to President Ton Duc Thang, who was a staunch revolutionary fighter of the international communist and workers’ movements, and an exemplary leader who served his country and people all his life. In addition, he was a close friend of the great President Ho Chi Minh.

Also on this occasion, the Youth Union - Student Association held an online activity to learn about the life and revolutionary career of President Ton Duc Thang; organized thematic activities; and screened documentary films about the life and revolutionary career of President Ton Duc Thang in order to review for the young generation of the University to know his great merits in the cause of national liberation and nation building. They have expressed respect to President Ton Duc Thang, upholding the spirit of “When you drink water, think of its source” of TDTU students and Union members.

Proud of the career and revolutionary ethics of President Ton Duc Thang, all TDTU leaders, lecturers and students pledged to unite with one heart, work and study hard, uphold the will to self-reliance, promote the spirit of dynamism and creativity, exploit potential strengths, and build the University to constantly develop, worthy of the University named after Uncle Ton.
