Digital transformation in manufacturing businesses: A stepping stone for the global economy

On November 27, 2020, a seminar on "Digital transformation in manufacturing businesses" took place within the framework of the Automation Festival 2020 with the theme "Digital transformation in manufacturing businesses" organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association in collaboration with Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU).

Participation and reporting by speakers included Dr. Tran Du Lich - member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, member of the Scientific Council of Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Le Quoc Cuong - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hoai Quoc - Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association.

The speakers shared with the guests, lecturers and students of TDTU about the importance, correlation, opportunities and challenges of the digital transformation program. The information has helped TDTU students to have a clearer understanding of how to operate a business effectively and shape the future career trends.

At the festival, Dr. Le Quoc Cuong pointed out the three main pillars of the national digital transformation program including digital government (to change perceptions), digital economy (people-centered), digital society (institution and technology as driving forces). These pillars have a positive impact on business development and the quality of people's life.

Dr. Le Hoai Quoc said that, apart from many great opportunities that businesses get from digital transformation such as targeting more consumers, getting support from the government, etc., consumer-side problems, experience and operational knowledge in changing perceptions are inevitable. Therefore, students need to have an objective and holistic view of the Digital Transformation program so as to apply to their start-up or participate in any businesses.

The readiness to accept the changes in order to bring domestic businesses to the threshold of globalization is a basic requirement for success. To do that, students need to actively participate in research activities on Automation, and pay special attention to new digital technology products.
