Vietnamnet Newspaper: A Pioneering University in Research and Cooperation for the Development of Ngoc Linh Ginseng
The scientific conference on Ngoc Linh Ginseng at Ton Duc Thang University marks a significant step forward in research cooperation and technology transfer among the University, local authorities, and enterprises.

On March 27, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology of Quang Ngai Province and the Institute of Drug Quality Control Ho Chi Minh City, organized a scientific conference entitled “53 Years Since the Discovery of Ngoc Linh Ginseng – Enhancing Quality, Developing and Elevating the Brand of National Products.”
The conference was attended by Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Ngai Province, Prof. Dr. Trinh Thi Dieu Thuong, MD – Director General of the Traditional Medicine Administration under the Ministry of Health, leaders of provincial departments and agencies of Quang Ngai, experts, scientists, enterprises, and representatives of localities cultivating ginseng. The event created a multidimensional forum for discussion on strategies for the development of Ngoc Linh Ginseng – a rare medicinal herb regarded as a “national treasure” of Vietnam.

Ngoc Linh Ginseng is considered one of the rarest medicinal herbs in Vietnam and the world, with high concentrations of bioactive compounds and exceptional medicinal value. However, to fully realize its potential, this product still requires substantial investment in research, standardization, and brand development.
At the conference, many updated research findings were presented, contributing to clarifying issues such as quality standardization, testing, identification, and differentiation of Ngoc Linh Ginseng from other types of ginseng in order to minimize confusion and counterfeiting. In this context, science and technology play a key role. Research on identification, testing, and product development not only enhances economic value but also helps protect the reputation and position of Ngoc Linh Ginseng in both domestic and international markets.

Beyond academic exchange, the conference also marked an important milestone in research cooperation, as TDTU signed agreements with enterprises to implement research projects, product development, and technology transfer related to Ngoc Linh Ginseng. The cooperation programs are expected to be large-scale, with the participation of strong research groups from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University.
The cooperation among TDTU, Quang Ngai Province, and enterprises clearly reflects the “triple helix” model – the State, the University, and enterprises, and demonstrates the orientation toward implementing contents in accordance with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, aiming to promote science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation associated with practical effectiveness.
