Honoring pioneers who laid the foundation and advanced research on precious ginseng
In his opening remarks, Dr. Vo Hoang Duy emphasized that the conference is an occasion to concretize the contents of scientific research cooperation with Quang Ngai Province, creating a foundation for connection between the University, enterprises, and localities to preserve and enhance the value of this precious national medicinal herb.
Ngoc Linh Ginseng is considered one of the rare and precious medicinal herbs of Vietnam and the world, with a high content of active compounds and exceptional medical value. However, to fully realize its potential, this product still requires substantial investment in research, standardization, and brand development.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee of the Conference also expressed appreciation to scientists who have made significant contributions to the discovery and research of Ngoc Linh Ginseng, including: Traditional medicine practitioner and Pharmacist Dao Kim Long (who discovered the ginseng in 1973), the late Dr. Nguyen Thoi Nham, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Prof. Dr. Tran Cong Luan, and Prof. Dr. Duong Tan Nhut. This serves as a well-deserved recognition of their efforts in transforming an endemic plant of Vietnam into a national product with high economic and medical value.
Scientific solutions to protect and develop the Vietnamese ginseng brand
At the Conference, many updated research results were presented, helping to clarify issues such as quality standardization, testing, identification, and differentiation of Ngoc Linh Ginseng from other types of ginsengs to limit confusion and counterfeiting. In this context, the role of science and technology becomes crucial. Research on identification, testing, and product development not only helps enhance economic value but also contributes to protecting the reputation and position of Ngoc Linh Ginseng in both domestic and international markets.

Promoting technology transfer and sustainable cooperation
Beyond academic exchange, the Conference also marked an important step forward in research cooperation, as TDTU signed agreements with enterprises to implement research projects, develop and transfer technology related to Ngoc Linh Ginseng. The cooperation programs are expected to be large in scale, with the participation of strong research groups from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University.
The cooperation activities among TDTU, Quang Ngai Province, and enterprises clearly demonstrate the “triple helix” model linking the State, the University, and enterprises, while also representing a concrete step in promoting the role of a university in line with Resolution 57, fostering breakthroughs in science and technology and strengthening connections between scientists, enterprises, and localities.
