Ton Duc Thang University Organizes the Student Orientation Week for the Academic Year 2025-2026
During August 11-16, 2025, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized the “Student Orientation Week” for the Academic Year 2025-2026 for all students of the University, welcoming the new Academic Year 2025-2026.
Dr. Tran Trong Dao – President of TDTU, together with members of the Presidential Board and the Leaders of the affiliated units, attended to welcome students returning to campus and starting the new academic year.
In the context of our country undergoing changes and transformation to develop in a new era, the President of TDTU expressed his hope that both lecturers and students would make strong efforts and determination from the first days of the academic year, with determination starting from the smallest things today, to have ambitions, dare to dream, dare to think big to achieve great things. The President delivered passionate, sincere, touching, and caring messages to all students; reminding them of their learning and training goals and tasks for the upcoming academic year; and especially the lessons to prepare to enter the door of the future.
In his address to students from all intakes, the President encouraged them to remember and uphold four key principles: “Firstly, keep the flame of passion in learning. Do not study merely to pass exams, but to gain understanding, to master knowledge, to be creative, to create values for yourself and for the community. Knowledge is power, so the one who masters knowledge will master the future. Secondly, preserve standards of morality and character. No matter how talented you are, without morality, you cannot truly be valuable to society. Live honestly, be responsible, and care for others – these are the foundations of human ethics. Thirdly, nurture the spirit of global citizenship and keep learning to become a global citizen, as we are living in an increasingly interconnected world. You are not only Vietnamese citizens but also young people in a “flat” world that changes every day, so it is essential to learn foreign languages, enhance digital skills, and develop critical thinking, teamwork, and intercultural communication skills. Lastly, live with ideals and the aspiration to devote. Do not simply ask what you can gain from society; instead, ask what you can do to make it better and to help our country become more prosperous and beautiful. When you live with ideals, life will open radiant paths before you.”
For the fourth-year students, the President expressed his gratitude for their companionship with the University and for being an indispensable part that has contributed to TDTU’s successes today. He hoped that the students would make their best efforts to enter this final academic year with many plans and aspirations for their future to be as successful as expected. The President shared that if university study is compared to a Marathon race, then this final academic year is the last 100-meter sprint to the finish line. Therefore, final-year students need to try harder, put in more effort, stay determined and steadfast with their set goals in order to be present at the Graduation Ceremony, receive their degrees, and graduate. Simultaneously, he reminded the students that, in order to graduate, integrate, and succeed on their future path, in addition to studying, training, acquiring and mastering specialized knowledge, students must also learn about compassion, kindness, and responsibility toward the community. This is about turning into reality the three ethical conduct that TDTU students have been educated by the time they graduate. “Only compassion, kindness between people, and personal responsibility toward the community can help our society develop and become better,” said the President.
For third-year students, the President pointed out that this academic year is a pivotal year, preparing for a leap forward to enter the real professional environment and getting ready for the final year, graduation, and leaving the University. He expected that the third-year students would take full advantage of the resources the University has provided – from the learning and training environment, scientific research, practical internships, participation in competitions, academic activities, and international activities, to accumulate for the leap in this year and the final year. The University’s lecturers and staff hope to witness the maturity of the third-year students that is reflected not only in academic achievements but also in attitudes toward life, professional mindset, and social responsibility. This academic year truly marks an important turning point for students, from the position of a student exploring themselves to the role of mentors, companions, and senior peers to first- and second-year students, and even to future students of the University. Therefore, the President hoped that, with the solid foundation built over the past two years, the third-year students would always pay attention to their actions, choices, and attitude toward life, inspire the younger students, and be ready to make breakthroughs in preparation for entering the globally integrated labor market.
Finally, addressing the young people – TDTU students entering the new Academic Year 2025-2026, the President said: The new academic year is a new beginning. Live every moment to the fullest under this University, because this place will forever hold the most beautiful memories in your journey. “I believe that with willpower, aspiration, and diligence, each of you can create a brilliant academic year, not only through grades but through growth in mindset, in conduct, and in how you define yourself. Turn every lesson into a life-changing opportunity. Turn challenges into a springboard to reach higher, and carry with you the TDTU spirit, resilience, discipline, creativity, and responsibility in every small action each day, to continue the path ahead with confidence, creativity, and devotion.”
Sharing their thoughts upon attending the Student Orientation Week for the Academic Year 2025-2026, students expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the dedication and care of the University’s lecturers and staff who have created opportunities for them to train, study, nurture their dreams, and grow under the Ton Duc Thang University. They also expressed their determination to achieve successes in the new academic year.
Nguyen Ngoc Duyen – a student of Intake 26, the Faculty of Business Administration, majoring in Hospitality Management, expressed her pride in being a TDTU student, embodying the five defining characteristics including Discipline, Politeness, Professionalism, Creativity, and Devotion. TDTU has not only been a place of study and training over the years, but also a place that has helped her define her goals and dreams.
During this Student Orientation Week, TDTU lecturers and students together reflected on the University’s remarkable achievements in the Academic Year 2024-2025, inspiring pride in the institution and strengthening each student’s sense of responsibility in preserving and further advancing these accomplishments. The program also emphasized and reaffirmed core educational content for students, including the three ethical conduct, the five defining characteristics of TDTU students, and the Student Code of Conduct – all of which embody the beauty, core values, and cultural identity of TDTU that must be upheld, promoted, and shared.
Within the framework of this year’s “Student Orientation Week,” there will also be panel discussions with topics such as “Adapting and Thriving in the Workplace,” “Preventing Legal Violations among Students,” and “The Code of Conduct and Communication in the Digital Environment” for students of Intakes 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Student Orientation Week is an annual activity to welcome students entering the new academic year, while helping them gain a solid understanding of fundamental issues in the political, economic, and social life of the country. On that basis, students can apply this knowledge to their studies at the University and strengthen their awareness and sense of responsibility in strictly implementing the guidelines and policies of the Party Committee as well as the laws of the State.
The meeting and welcome program for the new academic year was successfully organized, bringing a source of positive energy and inspiration along with meaningful and emotional moments, marking an exciting start to the Academic Year 2025-2026 that promises many brilliant successes.
