Vietnamnet Newspaper: TDTU Establishes the Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer
On August 5, 2025, Ton Duc Thang University announced the decision to establish the Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITT), marking a strategic step forward in becoming a research-oriented university and actively integrating into the digital transformation trend.
In the context of the rapidly unfolding Fourth Industrial Revolution, innovation and technology transfer are playing an increasingly pivotal role in enhancing competitiveness, driving socio-economic development, and affirming the pioneering role of higher education institutions within the national innovation ecosystem. A modern university, in addition to its missions of education and research, must also become a driving force in promoting technology application, advancing knowledge, and supporting enterprises in innovation.
Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), expressed his expectations that the Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITT) would connect research groups and faculties with enterprises and local authorities to promote the commercialization of research outcomes, nurture innovative ideas and contribute to building a startup ecosystem across the University. According to Dr. Tran Trong Dao, this is a progressive step to respond to and concretize the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW by the Political Bureau, affirming that the development of science, technology, and innovation is the fastest and most sustainable path to lead the country toward prosperity.

Earlier, in April 2025, Ton Duc Thang University established four additional high-capacity research groups, raising the total number of such groups at TDTU to nine. These groups bring together reputable scientists with outstanding research capabilities and are led by leading Professors, Associate Professors, and PhDs. They focus on key research areas that support the country’s strategic technological sectors. Additionally, the University established the Office of the Institute for Advanced Study in Technology in Hanoi, marking a significant step forward in expanding its scientific research and educational activities, as well as attracting high-quality human resources nationwide.
The establishment of the CITT is the next strategic step toward transforming TDTU into a research university with global competitiveness. It also contributes to promoting a shift in Vietnam’s growth model toward one driven by knowledge and innovation.

A representative of Ton Duc Thang University shared that CITT is expected to serve as a focal point for organization in promoting and coordinating activities related to applied research, technology development, expert-enterprise networking, knowledge transfer, startup support and the creation of scientific and technological products for the community. The Center will also play a crucial role in the University’s strategy to build an innovation ecosystem, enhance research and development (R&D) capacity, and strengthen collaboration among the University, enterprises, government, and society.

The establishment of the CITT comes at a time when the Party, State, and Government are strongly promoting the role of higher education institutions within the national innovation ecosystem. This initiative contributes to the concrete implementation of major policies, such as the Strategy for the Development of Science, Technology, and Innovation to 2030 (Decision No. 569/QĐ-TTg), Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW (2024), Resolution No. 193/2025/QH15, as well as various legal regulations and national programs related to technology transfer, innovative startups, and intellectual property.
With a flexible operational model aligned with practical needs and the University’s research-oriented development strategy, the Center is expected to become an effective bridge between academic intelligence and the market. It also aims to reinforce TDTU’s pioneering role in advancing science and technology in conjunction with national innovation.
