Meeting of the Junior Council for Professorship at Ton Duc Thang University in 2025
On July 14–15, 2025, the Junior Council for Professorship of Ton Duc Thang University held two official sessions to assess and recognize 14 candidates who meet the criteria for the title of Associate Professor in 2025. These sessions marked the formal phase following a thorough preparation process by the Council, the Council’s Standing Committee, and its support team.
The first session was attended by 11 Council members, including Prof. Dr. Sci. Phan Quoc Khanh – Chairman; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc – Vice Chairman; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Duc Hien – Secretary; and 8 other members who are Professors and Associate Professors both from inside and outside the University, along with the Council’s support team.
This year, 14 candidates submitted complete applications as per the regulations – an increase compared to previous years (8 candidates in 2023 and 12 in 2024). The Council discussed and analyzed each candidate’s dossier and the evaluations provided by three independent assessors, adhering closely to the regulations and standards set by the State Council for Professorship, while also considering the specific requirements of Councils for Academic Discipline. By the end of the first session, the Council voted to approve the list of candidates eligible for interviews in the second session.
In the second session, the Junior Council for Professorship evaluated candidates’ English proficiency with the participation of the Foreign Language Evaluation Team, which included Dr. Vu Cong Danh – Team Leader and Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh, with assistance from the Council’s support team.
In phase 1 of the second session, the Council interviewed each candidate. Each candidate gave a 15-minute presentation on their research results and teaching activities, followed by a 15-minute interview and academic discussion. All presentations and discussions were conducted in English, except where the use of Vietnamese was needed to clarify specialized content, as permitted by the Council.
In phase 2, the Council held a closed session without the candidates. Based on the application materials, the evaluations from the first session, and the interview results from phase 1, the Council discussed and consolidated assessments, completed dossiers in accordance with regulations, and voted on the list of candidates who met the criteria to be submitted to the State Council for Professorship for consideration in the next stages.
