Lao Dong Newspaper: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao Reappointed as President of Ton Duc Thang University

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) has reappointed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao as President of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) for the 2026–2031 term.

On July 2, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour announced the decision to reappoint Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao as President of Ton Duc Thang University for the 2026–2031 term at a ceremony held on the University's campus.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Member of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour.

Born in 1981 in Quang Ngai Province, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao is an Associate Professor in the field of Automation Engineering. He completed his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral studies in the Czech Republic, earning his Ph.D. in Control Engineering in 2009.

After returning to Vietnam, he joined Ton Duc Thang University in 2009 and has held various academic and leadership positions, including lecturer, administrator, Vice President, Acting President, and President. He has served as President of the University since 2022.

According to Ton Duc Thang University, the reappointment reflects the confidence placed in the University's leadership team while ensuring continuity and stability in implementing TDTU's development strategy toward becoming a research-oriented university.

In recent years, TDTU has continuously strengthened university governance, enhanced the quality of education, scientific research, and international cooperation. The University has pursued a research-oriented development model, focusing on building a modern academic environment, fostering innovation, and developing high-quality human resources.

During the 2026–2031 term, Ton Duc Thang University will continue to improve its university governance model, further enhance the quality of education and research, develop its innovation ecosystem, accelerate digital transformation, and expand international partnerships. These efforts are expected to strengthen the University's regional standing and improve its performance in international university rankings.
