Ton Duc Thang University Holds the Ceremony to Announce and Present the Decisions on the Appointment and Reappointment of Professors and Associate Professors for 2025

On December 10, 2025, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) solemnly held the Ceremony to Announce and Present the Decisions on the Appointment and Reappointment of Professors and Associate Professors for 2025.

Attending the ceremony on the side of invited guests – including leaders, former leaders, and representatives of Party bodies, mass organizations, and institutions at both the central and local levels – were Dr. Dang Ngoc Tung, Former Member of the Party Central Committee, Former Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, and Member of the University Council; Jurist Dang Dinh Thinh, Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Hoang Minh Tuan Anh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tan Hung Ward; Dr. Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Branch of the Su That (Truth) National Political Publishing House; and Mr. Pham Van Triem, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Small and Medium Enterprises.

From higher education institutions in Vietnam and abroad, the ceremony welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Hong Hai, President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Vinh Huy, President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sport; and Assoc. Prof. Dr., Colonel Dang Ngoc Toan, Vice President of the People’s Security University.

In addition, professors representing international universities were present, including those from VSB – Technical University of Ostrava; Tomas Bata University; National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University; Università degli Studi dell’Aquila; the University of Waikato; Brno University of Technology; Tamkang University; and others.

Representing the leadership of Ton Duc Thang University were Dr. Vu Anh Duc, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President and Chairman of the University Science and Training Council; members of the University Council; and members of the University Presidential Board.

Members of the 2025 Junior Council for Professorship of Ton Duc Thang University were also in attendance, including Prof. Dr. Sci. Phan Quoc Khanh, Chairman; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc, Vice Chairman; and Prof. Dr. Le Tien Thuong, Chairman of the Junior Council for Professorship of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and member of the TDTU Junior Council for Professorship, together with other professors and associate professors serving on the Council.

Leaders of academic and administrative units, professors, associate professors, academic advisors, along with a large number of lecturers, researchers, and staff from various Departments and affiliated units of TDTU were also present at the ceremony.

At the event, the University announced decisions on the appointment and reappointment of 13 professors and associate professors, among whom 11 individuals were appointed as Associate Professors for the first time.

The steadily increasing number of teachers who meet the standards for professor and associate professor titles at TDTU over the years serves as clear evidence of the University’s effective efforts in building and developing a high-quality human resource base. This strong and expanding academic workforce will continue to drive the University’s education, scientific research, and technology transfer activities in the years ahead.

On this occasion, the University also extended its congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao, a scholar with many notable contributions in research and training. In 2025, the State Council for Professorship officially recognized him as meeting the standards for the title of Associate Professor in Automation, acknowledging his persistent efforts and academic achievements over the years. Earlier, in 2024, he successfully defended his Habilitation thesis in the Czech Republic and was conferred the title of Associate Professor in Control Engineering by the Technical University of Ostrava, effective from January 1, 2025. This accomplishment is not only a source of pride but also a testament to the international academic community’s recognition of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao. Being appointed to the title of Associate Professor in both Vietnam and Europe in the same year is a remarkable milestone, affirming his academic standing while further enhancing the reputation and visibility of Ton Duc Thang University on the global education and research landscape.

On behalf of the teachers honored on this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Phuong, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, expressed his aspirations and affirmed his responsibility to continue striving even further in contributing to TDTU’s mission in training, research, and development. He stated: “I am fully aware that the role of an Associate Professor is not only to impart knowledge but also to lead research efforts and help build a scholarly environment that is exemplary, healthy, and progressive. Therefore, we are committed to making continuous efforts to enhance the quality of teaching, expand scientific research activities, and support and mentor younger colleagues in the profession, thereby contributing positively to the development of the University in particular and the academic community as a whole”.

Today’s ceremony announcing and presenting the decisions on the appointment and reappointment of Professors and Associate Professors is an occasion to acknowledge and honor the contributions of the educators and scientists to TDTU’s mission in training, scientific research, and institutional development. At the same time, it serves as a source of motivation for continued striving, enhancing the quality of the lecturers, and meeting development requirements in the new period. The ceremony also contributes to supporting and effectively implementing the goals set forth in the spirit of the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, as well as Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development.
