Ton Duc Thang University Pays a Working Visit to the University of Melbourne (Australia)
Melbourne, May 22, 2025 – As part of its working visit to Australia, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), led by Dr. Tran Trong Dao – President, paid an official visit and conducted a working session with senior leadership and academic faculties of the University of Melbourne.
The TDTU delegation was welcomed by Prof. Emma Johnston AO – Vice-Chancellor of the University of Melbourne, Prof. Adrian Little – Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), Prof. Ampalavanapillai Nirmalathas – Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, Prof. Willa Huston – Associate Dean (Global Engagement), Faculty of Science, along with professors, researchers, and leaders from various Faculties, including Engineering, Information Technology, Science, and Arts, as well as the International Cooperation unit.
The full attendance of the Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, and heads of key faculties at the meeting demonstrates the University of Melbourne’s strong commitment to and high regard for its strategic partnership with TDTU.
Discussion on research and academic cooperation:
At the meeting, both institutions engaged in in-depth discussions and agreed on several directions for strategic collaboration, focusing on:
- Co-organizing international scientific conferences in engineering, technology, science, and the arts;
- Jointly implementing international research projects, especially in smart urban development, infrastructure engineering, artificial intelligence, and information technology;
- Connecting and supporting lecturers and researchers from both institutions to participate in joint research groups, promoting interdisciplinary and multinational cooperation;
- Facilitating opportunities for lecturers and researchers to co-publish in reputable international journals;
- Establishing a network between professors, researchers, and key academic groups of both institutions.
Promoting academic exchange and developing high-quality human resources:
In addition to research collaboration, the two universities also agreed to:
- Implement student and lecturer exchange programs;
- Develop and expand academic scholarship programs for PhD candidates and Postdoc researchers;
- Cooperate in doctoral training through co-supervision models and joint postgraduate training programs.
The visit also offered TDTU delegates an opportunity to learn about the University of Melbourne’s facilities and modern training models through academic tours and thematic working sessions with faculties such as Civil Engineering, Computer Science, and international cooperation support units.
