On the morning of July 15th, 2017, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) solemnly held The Inauguration Ceremony of the Inspire Library [TDTU Inspire Library] attended by Mr. Ilkka-Pekka Similä, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Vietnam; Mr. Tran Thanh Duc, Vice Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Le Hoang Phung; Secretary of Bao Loc City Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Quoc Bac, Chairman of Bao Loc People's Committee, Lam Dong Province; Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training; Leaders of the Labor Confederation of Ho Chi Minh City and provinces; Leaders of other university libraries; Representatives of the Management Boards from many high schools; Representatives of Publishers, Bookstores, enterprises and organizations who are partners with the University in training, research and investment activities. The School was represented by Ms. Hoang Thi Khanh, Chairman of the Founding Committee; Prof. Le Vinh Danh, the School President; Founding Members, Board Members, Management Board Members, lecturers, and TDTU students.
TDTU Inspire Library was built on the green campus of Ton Duc Thang University with the total investment of VND 129 billion, and the total floor area of 8.678 square meters is designed as a common learning space model including Overnight Self-Study 24/7 and 7 floors. Each floor has its own paint color in 07 familiar colors. The name of each floor is also different according to each letter in the word INSPIRE. It is as following:
Especially, TDTU INSPIRE LIBRARY was designed by all lecturers and students with the only and unique styles and ideas in Vietnam up to the present, serving up to 3000 users simultaneously in the variety of functional areas.
TDTU INNSPIRE LIBRARY is an internationally standardized library and the most modern in Vietnam; as well as the first university applying synchronously technological solutions in management, operation, exploitation and development including The ALEPH software system with the outstanding feature – document management module aligned with courses and other applications such as : Primo Central Index, SFX and Metalib of Ex Libris Company deployed at libraries in the world top universities like Harvard, Oxford, etc. Besides, TDTU INPIRE LIBRARY is equipped with automatic management devices following RFID technology including: document classification system after reading and returning book; bactericidal and cleaning machines for the documents; The auto-borrow-pay books system; Document security gate; Entrance Control system, multi-function printers and many leading technology solutions. The designs help users proactively in research, self-studies and make the management of the library simple, with less human assistance needed, remaining efficient and professional.
