Lecturers and staff of Ton Duc Thang University joining hands to support students facing difficulties due to the pandemic

During the time of social distancing, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) temporarily stopped studying at the university, many students returned to their hometown to avoid the pandemic, but some students were still stuck in the city. The University used 2 dormitory buildings I and H to serve as medical isolation areas, so boarding students were temporarily transferred to dormitory buildings K, L. Some students still stayed outside since the beginning of the lockdown.

There are times when the City applied a strict social distancing, and many students have difficulty in buying food, while they cannot receive necessities from their families. Many lecturers and staff of units under the University quickly implemented timely support programs for students.

Faculty of Business Administration supported 93 students in the blockade areas with 500,000 VND each student. The Faculty also connected voluntary units to bring students back to their hometowns, supported students to buy food, and provided special support for students and families infected with COVID-19.

Faculty of Civil Engineering mobilized among lecturers, staff and partners to raise a fund with the amount of 88 million VND to directly supported 63 students.

Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​supported more than 62 million VND for 156 students, donated food and medicine to 138 students, especially supported 2.4 million VND for each case of student or family who are F0 or whose family members passed away due to COVID-19.

The Faculty of Information Technology had directly helped 50 disadvantaged students; each student received 1 million VND.

Faculty of Pharmacy cooperated with Colorcon Vietnam Co., Ltd to support 66 students with a total value of more than 37 million VND including cash, food and medicine.

The Faculty of Industrial Fine Arts provided cash support to 59 students with a total amount of more than 30 million VND. 49 others of the faculty are supported with food. In addition, lecturers and staff of the faculty have also supported hundreds of needy students in their own ways.

The Faculty of Applied Science had supported 100 students in difficult circumstances with an amount of nearly 20 million VND, along with necessities and free meals.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics continuously advises students on how to monitor their health, instructs them to register for financial aid in addition to providing direct support to disadvantaged students with the amount of 10 million VND.

Faculty of Law supported 11 million VND for 19 students, 50 gifts which are essential necessities with a total value of 7.6 million VND.

Faculty of Accounting had mobilized among lecturers, staff and businesses to raise a fund with the amount of 43.5 million VND to help students directly. In addition, the faculty also donated food and necessities to more than 100 other students.

Faculty of Finance  and  Banking had mobilized among lecturers, staff, alumni and businesses to raise a fund with the amount of 30 million VND to help 30 students directly. 

Department of Student Affairs supported many students with a total amount of more than 78 million VND, and also provided 50 boxes of medical masks and 123 boxes of vitamin C for boarding students.

The Department of Undergraduate Studies supported 1,000 eggs for students from provinces who have been stuck in the city.

The Department of Communication and Public Relations also promptly supported 10 students; each of them received 500,000 VND.

In the spirit of sharing a common difficulty of the whole society, each lecturer and staff of TDTU still regularly monitors information about students. The material value is not really big, but this is the heart of teachers who always turn to their students when they are in difficulties.
