Leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Visit Ton Duc Thang University and Hold a Working Session
On the afternoon of June 20, 2026, a delegation from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), led by Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Chairman of the VGCL, visited and held a working session at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU).
Joining the delegation were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung – Vice Chairman of the VGCL; Mr. Le Van Nghia – Vice Chairman of the VGCL; Mr. Vu Anh Duc – Deputy Secretary of the VGCL Party Committee, along with leaders of various functional departments under the VGCL.
Welcoming and working with the delegation on behalf of TDTU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao – Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University, members of the Presidential Board, and leaders of the University’s functional units.
During the meeting, the University leadership reported to the VGCL leaders on outstanding achievements in training, scientific research, innovation, international cooperation, and university governance. In the context of significant shifts in higher education, TDTU has maintained stable growth, confirming its position as one of the leading research universities in Vietnam while enhancing its reputation on international ranking boards.
The University also presented its strategic development orientations for the coming period, focusing on science, technology, and innovation; promoting digital transformation; improving human resource quality; and expanding international cooperation, thereby contributing to meeting the country’s development demands in the new era.
Delivering a speech at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan expressed his impression and admiration for the remarkable achievements that Ton Duc Thang University has attained. The Chairman of the VGCL highly appreciated the University’s breakthrough thinking, innovation, and unique approach—key factors that have shaped the appearance and stature of TDTU today. From a university facing numerous difficulties, it has risen to become a prestigious hub for education, scientific research, and innovation both domestically and internationally. It has also achieved impressive results in science and technology, university rankings, facilities, human resources, financial capacity, and attracting international experts.
He emphasized that the University’s results are a testament to the effectiveness of innovative thinking, daring to think, daring to do, and daring to make breakthroughs; this is also the spirit that the Central Government is encouraging and promoting in the country’s new development phase. He expressed his desire for the University to continue maintaining its breakthrough mindset, constantly innovating, being creative, and pioneering in its fields of operation.
Regarding the university autonomy model, the Chairman of the VGCL affirmed full support for TDTU’s autonomy policy. He assessed that the University has implemented autonomy at a very high level and suggested continuing to promote this model on the basis of full compliance with legal regulations. TDTU is considered one of the exemplary models of university autonomy in Vietnam today.
The Chairman of the VGCL also expressed support for the University’s long-term development strategy, while agreeing with the orientation to position TDTU among the nation’s key, elite higher education institutions.
Affirming the Trade Union organization’s strong bond with TDTU, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan emphasized: “The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour will continue to accompany the University to build and develop Ton Duc Thang University to be even more brilliant in the next phase.”
The working session took place in an open, responsible, and constructive atmosphere, reflecting the deep concern of the VGCL for the development of TDTU. This serves as a driving force for the University to continue promoting its pioneering role in training, scientific research, innovation, and community service.
