VNExpress: International Environment Leaves a Distinctive Mark at Ton Duc Thang University

A multicultural environment, flexible academic programs, and an extensive network of international partnerships are providing students at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) with opportunities for comprehensive development and global integration.

On May 29, TDTU held its May 2026 Graduation Ceremony, celebrating more than 2,000 new doctoral, master's, bachelor's, engineering, architecture, and pharmacy graduates. At the event, University representatives reaffirmed TDTU’s commitment to building an international educational environment, emphasizing high-quality education and practical learning experiences for students.

Among the outstanding graduates was Khine Zin Thaw, a Myanmar student majoring in International Business. She graduated with distinction one semester ahead of schedule, achieving a GPA of 8.51/10 and an IELTS score of 7.5, while maintaining a full scholarship throughout her studies in Vietnam.

Beyond her academic achievements, Thaw represented Myanmar at the ASEAN-Japan Youth Forum 2023 (AJYF 2023) and the 9th International Student Science Forum 2025 (ISSF 2025). Her story reflects the multicultural educational environment and globally oriented training model that TDTU has consistently pursued.

Thaw shared that she chose Vietnam and TDTU as her study destination because of Vietnam’s rapid development, its welcoming environment within the ASEAN region, and the University’s international scholarship opportunities.

Her early graduation highlights the effectiveness of TDTU’s flexible credit-based education system. The program allows students to design study plans that align with their abilities and learning pace. High-performing students can take additional credits to shorten their study duration while still meeting all academic requirements and learning outcomes.

TDTU currently hosts more than 700 international students enrolled in long-term undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

In addition to academic studies, students are encouraged to gain practical experience through internships and industry engagement. During her time at TDTU, Khine Zin Thaw completed internships at ITL Corporation and AQUILA.is, companies operating in the logistics and finance sectors. These experiences helped her strengthen her communication skills, adaptability, and professionalism in international working environments.

According to university statistics, more than 99% of TDTU graduates secure employment after graduation, with some disciplines achieving a 100% employment rate. Over 80% of graduates work in positions directly related to their field of study. Notably, all students who graduate ahead of schedule achieve Good or Excellent academic standing.

Due to the nature of international admissions, Khine Zin Thaw began her studies one semester later than her cohort. However, through determination and proactive learning, she successfully completed her degree ahead of schedule with outstanding academic results.

The Myanmar graduate noted that studying entirely in English within an international academic environment was initially challenging, especially in specialized courses requiring extensive reading and in-depth academic discussions. To adapt, she relied on perseverance and a strong commitment to learning. She also credited the support of lecturers and teaching assistants as key factors in helping her overcome difficulties during her studies in Vietnam.

Currently, TDTU hosts more than 700 international students enrolled in long-term undergraduate and postgraduate programs from various countries around the world. In addition, more than 11,000 international students from 40 countries and territories—including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, Denmark, South Korea, Japan, and China—have participated in short-term study programs, academic exchanges, cultural exchange activities, and experiential learning opportunities at the University.
