Ton Duc Thang University Strengthens Cooperation with Lam Dong Province
On the morning of March 1, in Lam Dong Province, a delegation from Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of the University, held a meeting with the leaders of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province to discuss and outline directions for strengthening cooperation in the province’s new stage of development.
Welcoming and working with the delegation was Mr. Nguyen Minh, member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province, along with leaders of the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Home Affairs, and the Department of Science and Technology of the province.

According to the Department of Home Affairs of Lam Dong Province, prior to July 2025, the three provinces of Lam Dong, Dak Nong and Binh Thuan (before administrative restructuring) had carried out cooperative activities in human resource development, research and technology transfer, investment promotion, and business environment improvement. Evaluations indicate that the cooperation between the localities and the University was implemented in accordance with the agreed contents, contributing to improving the quality of human resources and meeting the province’s socio-economic development needs. However, due to several reasons, coordination and collaboration among the parties have not yet achieved the expected results.

At the meeting, Ms. Le Thi Bich Lien, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong Province, sincerely expressed her appreciation for the University’s support for pupils and students in the province, particularly in career guidance counseling and scholarship programs. According to the Director, following the merger, the new Lam Dong Province has gained a broader development space, which also brings new requirements and challenges for the education sector. She also expressed her hope that the university and the province would continue to strengthen their cooperation in the future, especially in training high-quality human resources in the field of AI.
The leaders of the Department of Science and Technology stated that Lam Dong Province is currently implementing a number of large-scale projects across various sectors, requiring advanced technical expertise and new technologies. The science and technology sector expressed its hope that TDTU would strengthen cooperation in digital transformation, provide support in technology transfer, and collaborate in research and the development of pilot models suitable to the province’s conditions.

Acknowledging the recommendations from the specialized departments, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao emphasized that TDTU has carried out numerous cooperative activities with Lam Dong Province in organizing investment promotion and international trade exchange initiatives. In the coming time, the University will review and comprehensively evaluate its activities to identify appropriate areas of cooperation. At the same time, it hopes to work directly with the relevant departments and agencies to reach agreement on directions and effective coordination mechanisms.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province, affirmed that the province’s significant potential and development capacity in the new phase present numerous challenges, while also opening new expectations for coordination and cooperation between the province and TDTU. He highly appreciated the cooperation results achieved between TDTU and the localities prior to the merger. However, the limitations and shortcomings raised at the meeting indicated that information exchange had not been timely, and the assignment of roles and responsibilities during the cooperation process had not been sufficiently clear.
“Based on the strengths, potential, and needs of the locality, TDTU should focus its cooperation on human resource training, scientific research, and digital transformation. To achieve substantive results, the implementation must follow a clear phased roadmap, with careful investigation and focused, prioritized investment,” concluded Mr. Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province, at the meeting.
