Thanh Nien Newspaper: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao Appointed Secretary of the Party Committee of Ton Duc Thang University
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao has been appointed Secretary of the Party Committee of Ton Duc Thang University for the term 2025-2030.
On the morning of February 6, the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee awarded the decision appointing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of Ton Duc Thang University, as Secretary of the Party Committee of Ton Duc Thang University for the term 2025-2030.
The consolidation of the organizational structure has been carried out in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 71 of the Party and the Law on Higher Education 2025 (effective from January 1 this year), aiming to further reform university governance, streamline and unify the organizational apparatus, enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of leadership and administration at public higher education institutions.
Under this orientation, public higher education institutions will not establish the University Council, except for certain public universities with international agreements. According to the new regulations, the governance model will be organized so that the Head serves concurrently as Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University.
“In his remarks upon assuming his duties, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao expressed his profound appreciation for the trust by leaders at all levels. He emphasized: “In the current context of strong reform in university governance, the responsibility of the head is not only to uphold discipline, but also to take the initiative in innovation, and to dare to think and dare to act for the overall development of the University.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao affirmed that he will work together with the University’s leadership collective to promote solidarity and unity, innovate governance methods, focus on substantive effectiveness, and lead and direct the successful implementation and fulfillment of the objectives set out in the Resolution of the Party Committee of Ton Duc Thang University for the term 2025-2030.
Previously, in November 2022, Vietnam General Confederation of Labour officially announced the decision recognizing Mr. Tran Trong Dao as President of Ton Duc Thang University. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trong Dao, born in 1981 in Quang Ngai Province, holds a Doctorate in Control Engineering. Prior to being recognized as President of Ton Duc Thang University, he was Vice President for the term 2014-2019, Chairman of the Science and Training Council as well as Acting President for the term 2021-2026.
Ton Duc Thang University is a public higher education institution under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, operating in accordance with the orientation of autonomy, innovation, and integration.
