Opening Ceremony of the Ton Duc Thang University Student Sports Festival - TDTU Games 2026
On March 21, 2026, the opening ceremony of the Ton Duc Thang University Student Sports Festival - TDTU Games 2026 took place at the University's gymnasium in a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere, marking the return of the largest-scale sports event at TDTU.
Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ngoc – Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Party Committee of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. Representing TDTU were Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Son – Vice Rector of the University, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Sports Festival; Ms. Dang Thi Kim Anh – Head of the Student Affairs Department, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Sports Festival; and Ms. Pham Thanh Anh Khoa – Head of the Faculty of Sports Science, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Sports Games, along with the presence of leaders from units under/affiliated with the university, and a large number of delegates, esteemed teachers, coaches, referees, and more than 2,500 athletes and spectators.
Healthy training for better learning
TDTU Games is an event that the University invests in and organizes systematically, taking place every two years to respond to the campaign "All people practice physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh". The Sports Games aim to encourage the habit of practicing sports among students as well as to select and nurture sports talents for national and international competitions.
This year, TDTU Games was organized with the theme "Ignite Your Fire", bringing together 16 delegations from 16 Faculties with a total of 1,395 athletes competing in 8 sports, including: Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Taekwondo, Chess, Swimming, and Pickleball. Team sports such as Football, Basketball, and Volleyball continued to strongly promote teamwork; notably, Pickleball was included for the first time, marking the continuous innovation and development of the Sports Festival.

Opening speech of the Sports Festival, Dr. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Son – Vice Rector of the University, emphasized: “The theme of this year's Sports Festival has a very special meaning. The flame of passion is the energy that motivates each person to constantly strive, constantly overcome their own limitations to achieve higher goals. In sports as well as in studies and life, this flame creates perseverance, strong will, and a desire to excel. I believe that in the upcoming days of competition, the sports fields of Ton Duc Thang University will truly shine with the spirit of fair play, solidarity, discipline, and sportsmanship. Each athlete will compete wholeheartedly for the colors of their unit; each supporter will add energy to make the sports fields vibrant and inspiring.”
