President of the Senate of the Czech Republic’s Parliament Pays an Official Visit to Ton Duc Thang University

On the afternoon of November 19, 2025, as part of its official visit to Vietnam, the Delegation of the Senate of the Czech Republic’s Parliament led by its President, Mr. Miloš Vystrčil, paid a visit to and held a working session at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU).

Accompanying the President of the Senate were Senators, representatives of the Committee on Science - Education - Culture, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security, along with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Vietnam. The visit to TDTU was one of the delegation’s key activities during this mission, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, opening up new prospects for cooperation between the two countries in education and science - technology.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Tran Trong Dao – President of TDTU, expressed his sincere appreciation for President Miloš Vystrčil's visit and for choosing TDTU as a venue to meet with the University's lecturers and students. This event was particularly meaningful for the University’s academic community as it coincided with the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20, 1982 – November 22, 2025). Dr. Tran Trong Dao affirmed that TDTU will continue to its effort to advance joint training and research programs and to expand its international cooperation network, particularly with universities and educational institutions in the Czech Republic.

Based on this foundation of long-standing cooperation, the two sides have effectively implemented various programs, including joint bachelor’s and master’s training programs, student and lecturer exchanges, international semesters, sandwich-format doctoral training, the co-organization of more than 30 international conferences, and joint scientific publications. These achievements have contributed significantly to enhancing the strategic cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic in education and research.

 

TDTU – The focal institution for developing Vietnam - Czech education cooperation

TDTU has been entrusted by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam to serve as the focal institution for connecting the university cooperation network between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, as well as the focal institution for developing Vietnam – Czech educational collaboration programs.

The University is currently collaborating with Czech partners across several strategic fields, including artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, UAV technology, mechanical engineering–automation, cybersecurity, and renewable energy.

Beyond training activities, the cooperation between the two sides also aims to develop high-quality human resources, establish postgraduate programs, and promote advanced research. During the working session, both parties agreed to further expand academic exchange programs, applied research collaboration, the co-organization of international conferences, and partnerships with Czech enterprises.

During the meeting, the President of the Senate engaged in discussions with TDTU’s lecturers and students on opportunities for cooperation in education, research, and innovation. He also expressed his desire to further expand student exchange and connectivity programs between the two countries in the near future.

As part of the program, the President of the Senate solemnly presented commemorative medals to two distinguished TDTU educators in recognition of their outstanding contributions to education and their efforts in strengthening academic ties between the two nations. The honorees were Dr. Tran Trong Dao – President of TDTU, and Dr. Phan Dao – Director of the TDTU European Cooperation Center.

During his remarks, President of the Czech Senate Miloš Vystrčil highly praised TDTU’s efforts in promoting academic exchange programs, scientific research collaborations, and educational partnerships with higher education institutions in the Czech Republic. He emphasized that “TDTU is one of the most active and effective Vietnamese universities in collaborating with Czech partners,” contributing significantly to strengthening the long-standing friendship between the two nations.

The visit of President Miloš Vystrčil not only demonstrated the Czech Government’s and people’s strong interest in educational cooperation with Vietnam, but also reaffirmed TDTU’s prestige and standing in international academic relations. This occasion marks an important opportunity to deeper cooperation among universities, research institutes, and enterprises of both countries, thereby contributing positively to the ongoing internationalization of Vietnamese higher education.
