Final round of Logistics Arena 2020

On November 27, 2020, the final round of Logistics Arena 2020 was held with the theme “Logistics Responsiveness” at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU). The contest was jointly organized by Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), TDTU International Business Club (BAC), and Vietnam Logistics and Aviation School (VILAS).

Logistics Arena was held for the first time in 2015. This year, after multiple rounds, the 4 best teams overcame nearly 1,000 contestants in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) to go through to the final round.

The judges of the competition included Mr. Tran Chi Dung - CEO at Logistics Starslink; Mr. Do Huu Anh - Director, Seabornes Logistics; Ms. Bui Van Kieu - Director, Advant Intl Logs Group; Mr. Simon Vandekerckove - Managing Director, Geodis Vietnam and Mr. Alexander Olsen – Commercial Director, ITL Corporation.

In the final round, the teams went through three challenging phases including:

  • Team Run: answering multiple-choice questions
  • Group presentations and responding to the judges
  • Mystery Question (Bonus Point)

Despite being sophomores and juniors with not much experience in the actual working environment, all 4 teams were highly appreciated by the judges for researching and documenting data to give such good responses to the questions and scenarios.

All teams were impressive not only with their confidence in presenting English but also with their convincing innovative solutions and models. In the end, Casebreakers team (RMIT University Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education) won the first prize; Logi team (Foreign Trade University, Campus 2 and TDTU) was awarded the second prize; the X team (TDTU, International University and Foreign Trade University, Campus 2) the third prize; and Team Simple received the consolation prize.

The competition is a useful avenue for TDTU’s economics students in particular and other local universities, contributing to affirm the importance of Logistics and the needs of joint training programs with enterprises in Vietnam.

With the aim of connecting students with enterprises to create opportunities to learn directly from experts in the logistics industry, as well as to develop their own capabilities in expertise, presentation and teamwork skills, the contest was highly valued by students and business associations in the field.
