Quantifying the trade-offs between ecosystem service provision and water management in rice systems 

Department for Management of Science & Technology Development (DEMASTED), Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) will organize a seminar with 2 thematic reports:

  1. Water efficient rice production – Trade-offs and sustainability.
  2. On the linkages between hydrological and biogeochemical processes in soils.

These presentations will concentrate to present on some key statement problems and challenges in the effective use of water resources for rice production and cultivation activities in Vietnam in specific; and in the world in general. The presentation  will also provide some solution ways to deal with main problem issues  and risks; trade-offs as well as the price to pay for each option in rice production and cultivation and ina long term sustainable development of ecosystems services.

Speaker: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stefano Manzoni, Stockholm University, Sweden. He came to TDTU this time under the Program of cooperation between 4 countries: Vietnam - Sweden - Italy - Tanzania with the effort to implement the Project: "Quantifying the trade-off between ecosystem service provision and water management in rice systems”; an important branch project funded by the Swedish Government in the Project programme: " Sustainability and resilience – Tacking climate and environmental changes, 2016)".

Participants: Lecturers of the Faculty of Environment and Labour Safety; Faculty of Applied Sciences; researchers; post-graduate students and undergraduate students who have interest.
