Ton Duc Thang University is highly evaluated by AUN-QA for 2 Bachelor programmes

The 375th external assessment of the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) ended on the morning of February 29, 2024. TDTU’s 2 programmes, including Bachelor of Mandarin Chinese and Bachelor of Fashion Design, have completed the assessment by AUN-QA after 3 working days.

AUN-QA assessors reported the assessment results of the two programmes, in which it is highly appreciated for the Mandarin Chinese programme and the enthusiasm of lecturers in the Faculty of Foreign Languages; besides, they highly appreciated for the update of the Fashion Design programme according to the criteria prescribed by the Ministry of Education and the needs of the current fashion industry, and especially impressed by students who start their own companies and brands, and the achievements of students in major competitions such as the Miss Universe pageant’s national costume design contest.

The assessors also highly appreciated the expertise, output quality of both programmes, their high adaptability in diverse environments, fields of work, and attitudes in work. They also expressed a desire for these majors to further develop interdisciplinary cooperation and short-term certificate training among Universities within the network.

After visiting the facilities, the assessors highly appreciated the modernity of the library, the facilities for teaching and learning, and were especially impressed by TDTU’s sports complex with its stadium and sports hall, 3D golf room, etc. They also highly appreciated the teaching facilities for Fashion Design programme with modern workshops, updated equipment according to the needs of society such as drawing, tailoring, 3D printing, etc.

In addition, the AUN-QA assessors also pointed out some points to help the University improve its study programmes in the coming time, be updated according to the needs of society, contributing to the development of TDTU towards the world elite research university.

On behalf of AUN-QA and the assessment team, Prof. Rowena L. Escolar Chua - Chief Lead Assessor, expressed gratitude to the University’s leaders, lecturers, staff and students, especially the 2 programmes participating in this assessment. She hoped that the comments and assessments of AUN-QA experts would contribute to helping the University and 2 programmes implement better teaching and learning activities to deliver higher value to learners.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Dr. Dong Si Thien Chau - Vice President of TDTU, extended her gratitude to the AUN-QA assessors and the AUN-QA Secretariat for their dedicated work throughout the evaluation process of the two study programmes at TDTU. The comments and suggestions from the assessment team will serve as a foundation to help the University, Faculties, and Departments properly recognize the strengths and weaknesses for further improvement and enhancement of the quality of these study programmes.
