On October 10, 2018, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized “Upon tree Da” art performance and exchange with Lao Xao Trio international band. This was also the first Lao Xao Trio performance in Vietnam.

Lao Xao Trio is a band from Germany, consisting of three members: Khanh Nguyen, vocalist and percussionist, as well as the founder of the band; the two great musicians are Stefan Wehrepfennig (Guitar), and Diethard Krause (Violin- Cello). Performing folk songs of Vietnam on the modern music of the West, Lao Xao Trio's music style is not only a great combination but also the mixture between traditional Vietnamese and European modern music. In the art performance program "Upon Tree Da", the folk songs of Vietnam such as “Ly con sao, Beo dat may troi,”… were represented by the artists with bold sound of Western music as well as clearly expressed the culture of Vietnamese countryside; evoking the memories of homeland, village; and the pride of national music for the audience’s enjoyment.

From the first tunes, the music of Lao Xao Trio has brought the listeners a unique, new and attractive tone. The teachers and students of TDTU had a meaningful evening with a creative mix between the two cultures, by the beautiful voice of singer Khanh Nguyen and the moments of sublimation of the two musicians, Stefan Wehrepfennig and Diethard Krause.
