Creative Language Center holds Debate Competition in English

On October 22nd, 2019, Creative Language Center (CLC) at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held the final round of its Debate Competition in English at the school level to find representatives of TDT University in 2020 World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC 2020) in Thailand in December 2019.

WUDC is the biggest academic debate competition for university students in the world. Every year, it attracts around 400 competing teams that make up nearly 1000 competitors from every continent in the world.

CLC’s Debate Competition was held according to the British Parliamentary debate format. Although new to TDTU and Viet Nam, this is, in fact, the most popular debate format in the world, which will be used at WUDC 2020. The winning team will become TDTU’s (and Vietnam’s only) representative to participate in the WUDC 2020 finals.

This format helped CLC’s Debate Competition to differentiate itself from other debate tournaments organized in Vietnam, and had brought a lot of excitement to the audience. The content of the debates was picked from a pool of latest international debate topics, to guarantee that our representatives are qualified and ready to represent Vietnam in the world finals.
