In October 2021, the world university ranking system (US News & World Report Rankings) ranked TDTU at 387 out of 1,750 universities ranked in the 2022 ranking period.

In October 2022, US News ranked TDTU at 223 out of 2,165 universities ranked in the 2023 ranking period, an increase of 164 places  compared to the 2022 ranking period.

US News' ranking method is based on Clarivate data and a set of 13 criteria, in which the high-weighted criteria include: Global Research Reputation: 12.5%; Regional Research Reputation: 12.5%; Number of publications that are among the 10% most cited: 12.5%; Total number of publications: 10%; Normalized citation impact: 10%.
