The achievements of Ton Duc Thang University’s students at the Asian Taekwondo Championships in 2018

The 5th Asian Taekwondo Championships (2018) took place from 24 to 28 May, 2018 at Phu Tho Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), attracting nearly 300 athletes from other countries and territories. The Taekwondo Team of Vietnam ranks second with 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals. Especially, 7 students from Faculty of Sport Science of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) won medals, namely: Chau Tuyet Van with 2 bronze medals; Ngo Thi Thuy Dung with 1 gold medal, 1 bronze medal; Le Hieu Nghia with 1 gold medal, 1 bronze medal; Nguyen Thien Phung with1 silver medal; Le Thanh Trung with 1 silver medal; Ho Thanh Phong with 1 gold medal. In particular, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Kim, winning a gold medal and a bronze medal, was also awarded the "Best Athlete" (Ms. Le Kim was the first Vietnamese student to win gold medal at the World Student Sports Festival).

The aforementioned triumph is not only the pride of students of TDTU but also the encouragement to TDTU students competing at Asian Games (ASIAD 2018). This is the first continental sports competition in which Taekwondo is included. TDTU students surely have great potentials for glorious achievements at ASIAD 2018, partly contributing to Vietnam's position enhancement in the field of international Taekwondo.
