Opening ceremony of Ton Duc Thang University Games (TDTU Games) 2018

On the afternoon of April 23rd, 2018, TDTU Games 2018 was officially opened at the stadium. TDTU Games is an annual event to promote physical exercises and good sports, which follows the mirror of great Uncle Ho; to encourage students’ habits of doing exercises as well as to select and foster sport talents for national and international competitions. This was also an activity to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27th, 1946 - March 27th, 2018) and the 43rd anniversary of Reunification Day (April 30th, 1975 - April 30th, 2018).

TDTU Games 2018 will last until May 12th, 2018 with the participation of nearly 1,200 athletes who are all students, overseas students from 19 specialized units of TDTU to participate in the following games: Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Modern dance, Taekwondo, Athletics, Swimming, Badminton, Tennis, Mixed Martial Arts, Tug of War, Table Tennis. The Field- Hockey which was first put on the list of games has brought something new to TDTU Games this year, which raised the number of sports up to 13 out of 16 being held at TDTU. Especially, the organization of TDTU Games 2018 was carried out by the students from Sports Business and Event Management and TDTU Department of Sports Science. It showed that TDTU students not only were well-trained theoretically but also were able to run such large-scale project as TDTU Games while they are still in the University.

After the opening ceremony, the opening match between the Faculty of Civil Engineering (white T- shirt) and the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering took place with a 2: 1 victory for the Faculty of Civil Engineering
