"Let's On Air", the annual competition of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), is one of the activities seeking talents and creativity among students. With the theme: "Trivial Matters - When Matters Are More Trivial Than You Think", Let's On Air Competition 2017 attracts a large number of contestants who are required to demonstrate their skills in design (Print-ad) and filmmaking (Viral Clip). Nguyen Manh Huy, a student from Student Communications Group of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), won the first prize in the Viral Clip category. Below you can read a Students’ of Ton Duc Thang University Communications (STDTC) interview with Huy

STDTC: Hi Manh Huy! Congratulations on the First Prize of Let's On Air Competition 2017. Where does your passion for media and cinema stem from?

Mạnh Huy: Thank you for your congratulations! My passion for cinema roots in my childhood. At that time, I dreamed of becoming a director. However, because of the desire to have a stable career, I chose to study in the Faculty of Information Technology at TDTU in order to simultaneously have a suitable career and to follow my passion. As a freshman, I joined the STDTC to contribute to the TDTU's communication, as well as to realize my passion. Since then, I have gradually mastered filmmaking techniques and learned many other useful skills.

STDTC: What is the message you would like to send to everyone via your clip?

Mạnh Huy: "When you realize that your heart is still beating, your blood is still hot, and doors are not closed, all the pain is just a trivial matter." My work, "The Door", is a story about the times we are desperate or depressed, but for different reasons, we stand up and try to have a better life. From the true story of a girl who unfortunately failed college entrance exam, I hope everyone is ready to take new chances to start a better life and forget the despair of the past. Do not let the "trivial matters" knock you out.

STDTC: How have the education and lifestyle at TDTU contributed to your growing passion on media as well as enhanced your film editing skills?

Mạnh Huy: Having participated in communication activities at the STDTC, I have had more opportunities to express and develop myself. To me, STDTC is like a family. My fellows wholeheartedly help me, and as a Board member, I also wish to convey my ability to the next generation, adding new flames to the STDTC even further.

STDTC: Do you have any tips for hobbyists to get achievements like Huy?

Mạnh Huy: I think you should spend some time for yourself and feel the life! You can run around the city alone, or even sit in a roadside stall, doing nothing and immerse yourself in the walking pace of the passers-by. You will hear the story of different lifes, understand their feelings and you will be able to capture that spirit in each of your works.

STDTC: Thank you Huy for your sincere sharing. Hope your wishes come true soon. STDTC would love to receive good news from you in the future.
